Stewart Road/8th Street White River Bridge

Location: Stewart Road at the White River

Project Completion: 2027

Description: This project will replace existing 2-lane bridge with a new 74-foot wide bridge with two unequal length spans. The new structure will accommodate 4 vehicle lanes, a sidewalk, and a trail crossing.

Benefits: The new bridge will alleviate the current bottleneck in the corridor to allow better traffic flow. The bridge will also support safe pedestrian movement across the bridge and connect to existing pedestrian facilities.

      • Girder delivery and installation will be on the nights of 10/09/25 & 10/10/25. There will be a full closure of Stewart road during this time. The closure will be on the night of 10/09/25 from 8pm to 5am and the night of 10/10/25 from 8pm to 6am. Detour routes will be provided. Please see overview map of detour route below.



  • 09/26/2025 Construction Update

    • WORK COMPLETED FOR WEEK ENDING 09/27/2025:

      • Complete pier caps and back walls
      • Started levee work
      • Removed all northern access from the river
      • Started work on bag wall

    • WORK IN PROGRESS NEXT WEEK (09/28/2025 - 10/04/2025):

      • Complete levee work
      • Complete girder grout pads
      • Install temporary bag retaining wall and build up bridge approaches

    • UPCOMING WORK THROUGH 10/31/2025:

      • Girder delivery and installation will be on the nights of 10/09/25 & 10/10/25. There will be a full closure of Stewart road during this time. The closure will be from 8pm to 6am both nights. Detour routes will be provided.
      • Brief traffic interruptions will occur during crane operations. Traffic impacts expected to be minimal.
