Pollution Prevention Assistance
In 2007, the Local Source Control Partnership was formed by the Department of Ecology to help protect and restore the Puget Sound and the surrounding watersheds. The partnership provides assistance to businesses to help avoid contamination, reduce storm water pollution, and eliminate potential sources of toxic and dangerous wastes.
Pollution Prevention Assistance is a partnership with local city and county organizations that provides pollution prevention assistance (PPA) to businesses and organizations in the community. This program is specifically for businesses that qualify as small quantity generators (SQGs). PPA specialists offer free, hands-on assistance to help businesses find and resolve potential pollution issues.
PPA specialists can help to reduce pollution by:
- Reviewing your spill prevention practices
- Providing best management practices for stormwater protection
- Explaining the hazardous waste regulations that apply to your business
- Locating recycling or disposal resources for hazardous waste
