What are the requirements of a business that is designated as a Small Quantity Generator (SQG)?
As a Small Quantity Generator (SMG), your business is required to designate your waste, manage the waste safely, and recycle or dispose of the waste safely. Additional information about these requirements can be found here: Washington State Department of Ecology - Small Quantity Generators.
How often is a Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) inspection performed?
Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) inspections occur every two years. If the initial visit is unsuccessful in reaching someone on site to complete an inspection, a follow-up inspection may be scheduled to complete a site inspection to see if there are any corrective measures that need to be taken.
Can I request an inspection myself, or are these scheduled by the City?
Yes, inspections may be requested by the business owner/manager. It is highly encouraged that these inspections are requested, and not scheduled by the City. However, please expect a scheduled inspection every two years if you have not reached out the the PPA specialist to schedule an inspection.
