Virtual Open House- Spring 2021

The City of Sumner is working in partnership with the University of Washington-Tacoma (UWT) Urban Design Studio Class to create a Main Street Visioning Plan that identifies a range of enhancements to Main Street, between Traffic Avenue and Wood Avenue, in Downtown Sumner. The project begins in Fall 2020 and will be completed in June 2021.The Visioning Plan will examine enhancements to Main Street in the context of existing projects and developments and the Town Center Plan. It will advance the City&rsquo;s goals for equity, economic development, quality of life in downtown, transportation, and mobility, safety, and infrastructure upgrades.How can Main Street be more walkable and welcoming?How can it adapt better for events and parades?Is the historic character important?How does Heritage Park and the alleys off Main Street relate to the overall design?<hr>These are some of the ideas being discussed and considered by a Main Street Advisory Group and the public.The Main Street Advisory Group is made up of community stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and interests:<ul><li>Jill Starks, CEO Sumner Main Street Assoc.
